Donald W. Pulver, M.D.
Dr. Pulver, is the grandson of an upstate
New York dairy farmer and son of a veterinarian. He considers himself the
"black sheep" in the family for going to Cornell and becoming a physician instead
of a veterinarian like his brother and father. Currently, he
is a Clinical Associate Professor in Medicine at the University of Rochester and
founding partner of Allergy Asthma Immunology of Rochester (AAIR). Don has
had clinical medical experiences in Ashton, Idaho and Zambia, East Africa as a
general practitioner. He worked as an emergency room doctor in upstate New
York before turning his attention to allergy specialty training in 1977-79 at the University
of Rochester. He was in private allergy practice from 1979-85 in Cincinnati,
Ohio. He returned to Rochester in 1985 to form AAIR and to be near his and
his wife's (Robin) families. Don is certified by the American Board
of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He
is a Fellow of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology (AAAAI).
Currently he is one of 80 certified nationwide aeroallergen examiners for the
AAAAI and the National Allergy Bureau (www.aaaai.org). Dr. Pulver,
also known as "Dr. Pollen" by his friends, is responsible for the daily
pollen
counts that appear in the Democrat & Chronicle and on WOKR 13 TV each morning during the spring,
summer, and fall in Rochester, New York. His clinical interests and
research are in aerobiology, sinusitis and asthma. He is actively engaged
in the teaching of Medicine and Pediatric residents and trainees in Allergy and
Immunology. He has lectured extensively in upstate New York and is known
for his interactive approach to teaching and learning. Robin Pulver, Don's
lovely wife, is a well-known author of children's books including the classic,
"Mrs. Toggle's Zipper." Her latest books are "Punctuation Takes a Vacation"
and "Christmas For A Kitten." She recently was invited to read her
books at the White House Easter Egg Roll. Her works can be viewed and read at AARRC
and AAIR and also on her website at www.robinpulver.com. |
