AAIR Infusion Center Continues to Grow

Posted on: 01/18/2010

AAIR’s infusion center has experienced steady growth over the past few years. In 2006, 670 infusions were performed. That number rose to 840 in 2007. The year 2008 AAIR did 960 infusions. 2009 our infusions increased 22.9% to 1180. We expect to see this trend continue.

AAIR offers state-of-the-art facilities for intravenous (IV) infusion of Remicade, a drug that has shown good results in treating inflammation in a number of rheumatologic and dermatologic diseases.  People who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriasis receive periodic infusions of Remicade, often with substantial relief of symptoms.  AAIR’s infusion center is also equipped to administer, Orencia, Boniva, Reclast and Rituxan.  We expect to be able to offer the drug, Actemra, in the near future. AAIR treats its own patients as well as those referred by other physicians.

Our center is staffed by registered nurses all experienced in starting and monitoring IV’s. Last year our primary nurse in infusion, Lorrie Tiberio, obtained her Certified Registered Nurse Infusion certificate.  There is always a physician on the premises to oversee the procedures.  Our hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:30-5 and Fridays from 8:30-1 PM.  There is ample free parking available.  AAIR has the latest programmable IV pumps and vital sign monitors. The center has 4 comfortable reclining lounges with headsets to watch TV or listen to music.  It is a quiet, pleasant and stress free environment in which to relax during your visit. Infusion services are covered by most insurers.  Prior approval from your health insurer is necessary to receive these drugs.  Our staff can assist you in determining your coverage and out-of-pocket expenses.   F you are interested in knowing more about our infusion service, call us at 442-0150, ext 175 and ask to speak to a nurse in our infusion center.
