Red Flag Rule Update

The “Red Flags Rule” is a new federal law is expected to take effect June1, 2010. This law was enacted to help identify, detect, deter and respond to identify theft or possible identity theft and requires physician offices to verify the identity of each patient when they check in by showing an acceptable form of identification such as your driver’s license.
AAIR already takes pictures of each of our patients for their chart for identification but also to help ensure patient safety and will continue to do so.
Though this law has now been postponed until 6/1/2010, in anticipation of mandatory compliance with this rule, you may still be asked to show ID when you come in for an appointment even now.
